Lake Chala

Lake Chala

A mystical lake between Kenya and Tanzania with breathtaking views and remarkable sunrises

Lake Chala is an ancient volcanic crater that is now a beautiful lake surrounded by 70-foot walls. This place is a hidden gem! The trip can be as active or as relaxing as you want. You can choose to hike around the rim – going all the way around the lake takes around 4 hours. You will see birds searching for prey and monkeys swinging in the trees. Wander down to the dock and swim or kayak in the caldera. If you have enough energy, you can kayak all the way to Kenya and back. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

If you choose to camp, the site is well equipped with excellent amenities such as bathrooms with hot showers, a restaurant and bar, and a barbecue area.
